RE: Embracing JavaScript & Plans for the Future | Dec 14, 2024

In my last post, I had mentioned wanting to embrace JavaScript and utilzie it more to add some functionality and theming to my Website. The primary / original goal of this was to help reduce the time it took to make updates to the Navigation bar (or other common elements, such as the footer, header, or page title). After considering this futher however, I do not think it is a route I want to go.
From my (brief) ammount of research, this goal is typically achieved on the Server side, such as by using PHP. Since I am currently hosting on Neocities, this will not be possible. For now - this is getting a Pin pushed into it until I start hosting the site myself. This is of course a long-term goal of mine, So we may not see this for a year or more!
Leaving this navigation bar as a static element will alos allow me to keep advertising that most of my pages are JavaScript free (of course aside from the Tools and Games). This is beneficial for people who have plugins like NoScript installed, or are accessing from older devices. Although I do not have plans to make my website easily accessible from devices from the early 1990s or text-based Web Browser, I do want it to be as compatible as possible, without too much extra work. And NOT using JavaScript is one approach that I am going to stick with.

JavaScript Broke the Web.

My Promise:
I intend to make my website as Accessible as & Inclusive as Possible so any Person can Access my Content Regardless of Device Compatability and Able-ness.
